County Officals Issue Stronger "Safer At Home" Health Order

On Saturday, March 21, the LA County Department of Public Health issued a stronger “Safer At Home” order (viewable at templecity.us/revisedorder), which closes additional businesses and amenities. An amended list is provided below.

EXEMPTIONS:                                             
Businesses that provide “critical infrastructure” do not have to close
--Ex: health care, public health, media, and food and agriculture

FAMILY/FRIEND CARE:
Residents can leave home to care for those in need; take precautions:
--Maintain six feet of social distancing
--Wash hands before and after all interactions
--Use hand sanitizer if available
--Cough or sneeze into elbow or a tissue; wash hands
--Those with early signs of a cold should stay away from older people
 
GATHERINGS:
All public and private gatherings are prohibited countywide
--Exemption: The cities of LA, Long Beach and Pasadena, which have their own rules
 
HOSPITAL/HEALTH CARE:
Non-essential care (ex: teeth cleaning, elective procedures) must be postponed
Visits to hospitals and nursing homes are banned; limited exceptions include:
--When a patient is at the end-of-life
--Accompanying a minor or developmentally disabled person
--Accompanying someone who needs assistance
If possible, health care visits should be done remotely
 
INSURANCE:
Copays/coinsurance and deductibles are waived for COVID-19 testing/screening
--Applies to those with full-service Medi-Cal or commercial insurance in California
 
PETS:
Dogs can be taken for walks; sick pets can still be taken to veterinarian offices
 
RECREATION/EXERCISE:
Outside walks, runs, bike rides and hikes are allowed (with social distancing)
