El Cerrito Police Community Advisory

On Friday March 20, 2020 at approximately 1506 hours, the Communications Center received a call of a shooting on the Ohlone Greenway . Responding officers located the victim on the pathway just north of Blake Street, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg. The ECFD and AMR Paramedics provided aid and transport.

Officers were told that the victim (39 years of age) was riding his bicycle on the Ohlone Greenway when he contacted two subjects walking in front of him. An argument ensued between the victim and the suspect (described as a black male, in his late teens to early twenties with a stocky build, and as wearing all black clothing).

The suspect/pedestrian produced a firearm during the argument and fired a shot at the victim/bicyclist. The suspect was accompanied by a black female in her 20’s. The suspect and his companion fled the area on foot and were not located after a complete search of the area.

The victim was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. At this time, there is no known threat to the public safety. The investigation of this shooting is on-going and anyone with information is encouraged to call the El Cerrito PD Tip Line at (510) 215-4414 ext. 40 or email, [email protected].
