The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas for... Northwestern Rapides Parish in central Louisiana... Central Vernon Parish in west central Louisiana...
* Until 1245 PM CDT.
* At 1050 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Leesville, Boyce, Lena, Fort Polk, Slagle, New Llano, Hutton, Clifton, Flatwoods, Burr Ferry, Lacamp, Simpson, Evans and Pickering.
* AFFECTED AREAS: RAPIDES, LA ... VERNON, LA
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
