Governor issues statewide stay-at-home order; Menlo Park moves to halt construction

Thursday evening, March 19, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a statewide stay-at-home order to protect the health and well-being of all Californians and to establish consistency across the state in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. The order goes into effect immediately and is to remain in place until further notice.

The Governor’s Executive Order N-33-20 calls on all individuals living in the State of California to stay at home or at their place of residence, except as needed to maintain continuity of operations of the federal critical infrastructure sectors. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce for the COVID-19 response.

The order allows essential services to remain open and for public access to necessities such as food, prescription medicine and health care. Anyone who leaves home to obtain or perform essential functions, such as those identified, or to facilitate those necessary activities, they are required to practice social distancing.
