Advisory

Seymour Police Department Limits Public Access to Headquarters

SEYMOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT LOBBY CLOSED

Dear Community Member,

Our department is following many precautions regarding the COVID-19 virus. We are generally following guidance from our state and local health authorities on this matter.

While we understand that total prevention is unrealistic, we are taking certain steps to mitigate the spread of the virus. Social distancing is one of those steps.

We cannot cease to respond to public calls for service. However, we can limit non-essential meetings and contacts. In order to remain effective at responding to public emergencies and calls for service, we are trying to reduce our staff’s exposure. Conversely, we are also trying to limit any chances of passing on the virus to the public.

While our health authorities are recommending that large group gatherings of 10 or more people should be avoided, we are also considering smaller groups and that even one-on-one contacts to be avoided.

THEREFORE….

EFFECTIVE 03/19/2020 at 8:00AM AND UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, THE PUBLIC LOBBY OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE CLOSED TO GENERAL VISITORS.

If you need to speak with an officer regarding an incident, please call the department’s non-emergency number (920) 833-2366 to speak with staff. We will assess the situation over the phone to determine the proper response. After business hours calls please call Outagamie County Sheriff’s Communications Center at (920) 832-5000.

EMERGENCIES SHOULD STILL BE CALLED INTO THE DISPATCH CENTER VIA 911

For administrative issues such as requesting reports, paying fines, etc. call the non-emergency number beforehand so that we can give you guidance on the matter. Many of these requests can be handled via phone, email or other electronic means of communication.

Due to the lobby being closed, the public will not have access to our medication drop box.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause. The City of Seymour Municipal Building will be open and conducting normal business.

Chief Isaac J. Schultz
