SUSPECTS:    Jeremiah Mendez – 25 Year Old Ontario Resident

                         Fernando Mendez – 24 Year Old Ontario Resident

NARRATIVE:
In February of 2020, suspects Jeramiah and Fernando Mendez were at a convenience store within the 1500 Block of North Indian Hill in the City of Pomona.  The suspects approached the victim who was standing outside of the convenience store and began violently punching and stabbing the victim.  
 
Following the attack, the victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where they immediately underwent surgery.  Fortunately, doctors were able to perform life saving measures and the victim survived the violent attack.
 
As the result of a thorough investigation by Pomona Detectives, they were able to identify both suspects and found they were both documented Pomona gang members.
 
On 03/17/2020 the Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit was tasked with locating and apprehending both suspects.  Through departmental resources and further investigation, the Special Investigations Unit positively identified both suspects at a residence within the 1800 Block of East Fifth Street in the City of Ontario.  Knowing the suspects violent behavior, the Special Investigations Unit formulated a plan to take action when the suspects were isolated and no other persons would be in harm’s way.  At 6:50 PM, members of the Special Investigations Unit approached the residence and took both suspects into custody without incident as they were seated in a vehicle parked in the driveway.
 
Both suspects were transported and booked at the Pomona City Jail.
