New Report Procedures & Additional Guidelines for Police Interaction

I am sure everyone getting this message has already been made aware of the new restrictions put in place by the governor so I won’t go into more detail on that. What I do want to tell you is that our police department along with each and every officer is out there continuing to give their all to keep you safe. But in order to keep them safe, I want to go over some new restrictions I hope you understand must take place.

Below are the outlined procedures for making a report both by phone and by web. Also, nothing has changed when it comes to 911 emergencies. The number is the same and the response is the same (The Best & Most Professional).

Please be aware that our officers will be stationed in parking lots of grocery stores and parking lots of many different establishments in town. They will be making sure everyone cooperates and shows their best side when shopping for their millionth role of toilet paper. What did Elsa say? Let it go, let it go!
Lastly, officers will be running radar and selective enforcements for aggressive driving. Sadly, COVID-19 is not a valid excuse for disobeying the motor vehicle laws. Officers may keep their distance while on the motor vehicle stop but rest assured tickets are being given out. Let’s not put them in a situation where they may compromise their safety and instead drive with caution and respect for others. Please!

Also, I have been to several stores which have a good supply of peanut butter and fluff so let’s not forget that staple is always available.

Please stay safe and please follow the guidelines set forth so we can keep our parents, our children and most importantly ourselves safe. As care takers, we must stay healthy for those under our care so they can thrive and we can talk about this event for years to come.
Here are the current police guidelines. (Please remember these are fluid and dynamic in nature and are subject to change very often!!!!

1)  Use our Online Reporting whenever possible.
     http://www.westwindsornj.org/police/online-reporting.html

2)  Use Telephonic Reporting by calling our non-emergency number at (609) 799-1222.

3)  The WWPD Headquarters Lobby is closed for all non-emergency transactions. Call HQ at 609-799-1222 for any needed clarification. All tours, interviews or any HQ interactions have been suspended until further notice. Also, while we absolutely love all the home baked goods (I’m not kidding, we love them) we cannot have any brought into HQ. Don’t forget our own restaurants in town for your own food needs. They so need your business for takeout and delivery. I have seen what they are doing and there are no cleaner establishments around!!!!!!
4)  The Records Bureau is closed to any walk in for any reason. Please call 609-799-9282 for guidance on paying alarm registrations, getting handicap permits and getting copies of reports.
5)  All fingerprinting will be suspended until further notice.
6)  All Good Conduct letters are suspended until further notice.
     Go to https://www.njsp.org/criminal-history-records/
7)  Operation Medicine Drop & the medicine drop box in HQ is closed until further notice. Please safely secure unused medicine until this program goes back into effect.
8) The Violations Bureau is CLOSED to any walk in traffic.  It is open via telephone (609) 799-0915

Sorry for the constant change but I have been meeting with Mayor Marathe, Director Yates, Director Swanson and BA Schmid on a regular basis as well as my command staff on a daily basis. Remember, all of us are committed to the safety of everyone involved.
