Effective immediately and as part of City’s response to the threat posed by COVID-19, the East Chicago Water Department will be implementing the following measures for the safety, health and wellness of our residents, customers and employees relating to Water Department collection activities.
 
To reduce in person transactions, the Water Department’s walk-in payment option will not be offered until further notice.   We would like to remind customers of other payment options available and that remain accessible: 

• Online Water Bill Payments link at www.eastchicago.com. 
• United States Postal Service or mail
• First Merchants Bank (East Chicago Branch)
• Peoples Bank (East Chicago Branch)
• Strack & Van Tils (East Chicago Store)
• After hour Depository Box (only checks and money orders) located at the Water Department Office – on the east side of the building and below the drive up window.  
• Drive thru option will remain open and accepting payments during normal working hours.
