On March 13, 2020, Kern County Sheriff’s Office detectives made a third arrest for a homicide at the Motel 6 at 8223 E. Brundage Lane on December 12, 2019.
On Friday, 33-year-old Oscar Hernandez was arrested without incident at the Probation Department. He was booked for murder and participation in a street gang.
On January 7, 2020, 37-year-old Benjamin Bravo of Bakersfield was arrested for murder and attempted murder.
On December 15, 2019, 29-year-old Jose Chavez for murder and attempted murder.
On December 12, 2019, at 6:55 a.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 8223 E. Brundage Lane for a report of a shooting.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located a victim with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to the hospital. After the first victim arrived at the hospital, deputies learned two additional victims of the shooting arrived at the same hospital by personal vehicle.
One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The deceased victim has been identified as 30-year-old Daniel Gil of Bakersfield. Another victim had major injuries, while the third victim had minor injuries.
