ECPD Press Release

On March 14, 2020, at 0113 hours, a resident of a home on Cutting Boulevard called the Communications Center to report an intruder in the home’s attached garage. The female resident stayed in the bedroom with their daughter and called 911 while her husband armed himself and left the bedroom to investigate.

The husband discovered the intruder was at the backdoor of the home and appeared to be trying to enter the home via a glass door. The male resident shouted at the intruder, who did not leave. The resident felt threatened that the intruder was going to enter the home and he felt he was acting in defense of himself and his family, so he shot at the intruder. The intruder immediately ran from the scene.

ECPD Officers arrived and found a deceased male, laying in the roadway near the residence.

The investigation lead Officers to believe that the suspect was in the process of committing a burglary and had most likely been committing other burglaries in the area.

The identity of the person is not being released at this time, as familial notifications are still being made.

At this point, no arrests have been made. The investigation is on-going.
