Advisory

At this time, we have no confirmed or presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 in Peoria/Tazewell/Woodford Counties. Use safety precautions.

We all have questions about the rapidly changing COVID-19 Pandemic amongst us. At this time, we have no confirmed or presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 in Peoria/Tazewell/Woodford Counties. However, the CDC recommends preparing your household now in the event a COVID-19 outbreak does occur:

Create a household plan of action
Practice good personal health habits and plan for home-based actions
Be prepared if your child’s school or childcare facility is temporarily dismissed
Plan for potential changes at your workplace

Important things to remember about combating the spread of COVID-19 is to consider the following:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Cover your cough and sneeze.
Wash your hands thoroughly several times a day and always
after you cough and sneeze.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Clean and disinfect items and surfaces frequently using
household cleaners.
Follow the social distance practice which is 6 to 8 feet from
others.

Feeling sick? Call ahead before visiting your doctor or a clinic. This will help the healthcare provider’s office take steps to keep other people from getting infected or exposed.

If you are experiencing MILD symptoms, such as runny nose, mild cough, and no fever – please call your doctor for advice on how to provide self-care.
If you are experiencing MODERATE symptoms which include cough, temperature over 100.4 degrees but no shortness of breath, you should call your doctor and self-isolate in your home.
If you are experiencing SEVERE symptoms such as cough, high temperature, or severe shortness of breath, call your doctor for immediate assistance and be prepared to go to the emergency department.

If you do not have a family Dr you can call 211 and you will be connected with a nurse from Heartland Health Services or one of the local hospital to answer your questions.

Testing should be done in conjunction with your provider. Please contact your primary care provider to determine your need for testing before going to the hospital/clinic.

If you are possibly exposed to #COVID19 and told by your healthcare provider or a public health worker to stay home for 14 days, unless you need medical care, please follow their recommendation. Protect yourself and protect others.

As this Pandemic progresses, the public health and healthcare community want the public to be prepared for new policies, which include but not limited to:

1. Increased visitor restriction policies at hospitals and nursing homes.
2. Cancellations of gatherings and large scale events.
3. School closures

We will continually update our social media outlets (NIXLE, Facebook and Twitter) as we receive information from the Health Department and CDC.
