This is a Joint Letter Addressing COVID-19 (Corona Virus) from your City Manager / Director of Emergency Services Rod Foster, Police Chief Mark Kling and Fire Chief Sean Grayson.

To Those Who Live, Work, Play, and Thrive in the City of Rialto:
We want to provide you information on the City’s efforts to prevent the spread and reduce the impact of COVID-19 (Corona Virus) in our community. Please know that your health, safety, and wellbeing are our priority.

The State of California has declared a State of Emergency related to the COVID-19 outbreak. San Bernardino County and the City of Rialto have declared a local emergency for the response to and prevention of transmission of COVID-19. Consistent with actions by the State and County, the City of Rialto may cancel or reschedule public events or gatherings as a method to reduce transmission of COVID-19.

There are no reported cases of COVID-19 in the City of Rialto or San Bernardino County. The San Bernardino County Department of Public Health reports that, “the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low.” Nonetheless the City is taking steps in an effort to provide for the health and safety of our Rialto Family.

With Our Community:
• Encourage good hygiene practices including washing hands and limiting person-toperson contact • Encourage community members, including City of Rialto employees, that have a fever, cough or difficulty breathing should not attend school or work and should make contact with their medical provider if needed. • Work with at-risk populations to reduce risk within their environments.

In Our Facilities:
• Deep clean sanitization of City facilities with a focus on areas of gathering. • Providing hand sanitization stations in all City customer service areas. • Identifying opportunities for staff and the public to interact other than face-to-face.
