Man Arrested For Criminal Threats Against A School

Ontario Police have arrested a man for making criminal threats against a local high school.

Police were notified earlier this morning about a man who was making a threat to do harm to Ontario High School on a social media account.  An acquaintance of the man saw the post and notified police of the pending threat.  Investigators immediately began working the case and identified Julio Cesar Medina, age 23 of Ontario, as the person responsible for the post.

An Ontario Police School Resource Officer enacted a plan to provide extra security for the school based on the credible threat.  At 7:30 AM this morning, Medina was intercepted on his bicycle in front of the school by police who were staging in the area.  He was found to be in possession of a mask, lighter fluid, an Ontario High School yearbook, and a lighter.  He was arrested without incident and booked at West Valley Detention Center on the charge of making criminal threats.

Keeping our schools and community safe is our top priority and this emphasizes how our community plays a key role in stopping crime.  This person was stopped before he had the opportunity to fulfill his plan because someone took the time to notify police of the pending threat.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Ontario Police Department at (909) 986-6711.

Information can also be reported anonymously by calling WE-TIP at (800) 78-CRIME or online at www.wetip.com.
