On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, a threat was posted on Reddit referencing a potential threat of violence at Valley Fair Mall. This allegation was immediately investigated by the Santa Clara Police Department. It is, and continues to be, our priority to ensure the safety of our community. The threat has been determined to be non-credible.
We greatly appreciate the vigilance of the community for bringing such incidents to our attention. It is through this partnership we are able to keep our community safe.
Information, and misinformation, circulated through social media can cause unnecessary fear. If you come across a threatening social media post, please do NOT like, retweet or share it. Instead, take a screen shot including the posting individual’s name, and call the Police Department’s non-emergency phone line at 408-615-5580. Public Safety Dispatchers will provide you with instructions on how and where to send the images.
