Burlington Township Police is hosting their 2020 Citizen Police Academy!

The Burlington Township Police Department invites members of our community to participate in our Citizen Police Academy.  Classes will begin Wednesday, April 1, 2020 and will continue each Wednesday night for 8 weeks until graduation on May 20, 2020.  The classes will begin at 6:00 PM and will usually conclude by 9:00 PM.  Cost of this class is FREE but size is limited.
The purpose of the Citizen Police Academy is to foster a spirit of cooperation and understanding between the community and the Police Department.  The academy will provide the citizens of Burlington Township with an opportunity to learn about their Police Department, including the department's mission and the duties performed by its officers.  Community participants will gain insight into law enforcement’s role in the criminal justice system and the daily work of our police officers.
Classes will be hands on.  The topics covered will include basic criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, criminal investigations, crime scenes, traffic safety, motor vehicle crash investigations, mental health awareness, gun safety, active shooter scenarios, building entry, and demonstrations by a Police K-9.

Applicants to this academy must be at least 18 years old and a resident, student, or business owner in Burlington Township.  Those non-residents with an affiliation with the Township may also be accepted.
