Flash Flood Watch until 06:00AM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Alabama, northwest Florida, and southeast Mississippi, including the following areas, in Alabama, Baldwin Central, Baldwin Coastal, Baldwin Inland, Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia, Mobile Central, Mobile Coastal, Mobile Inland, Monroe, Washington, and Wilcox. In northwest Florida, Escambia Coastal, Escambia Inland, Okaloosa Coastal, Okaloosa Inland, Santa Rosa Coastal, and Santa Rosa Inland. In southeast Mississippi, George, Greene, Perry, Stone, and Wayne.

* From midnight CST tonight through late Wednesday night

* Moderate to locally heavy rain spread across the central Gulf coast as we head into the the middle of the week. Highest rainfall is currently forecast from 3 to 5 inches mostly north of I-10 and southeast of I-65 with locally higher totals perhaps upwards between 6 and 8 inches being possible.

* Soils remain saturated in the Flash Flood Watch area. Heavy rainfall rates in a short period of time from storms that are likely to move repeatedly over the same areas sets up an increased favorability for onset of flooding of urban and low lying areas. Additional river rises may also worsen lingering ongoing river flooding.
