DETAILS: Between 6/25/19 and 10/02/19, the West Windsor Police Department investigated several burglaries to unlocked vehicles and unsecured garages. Property and cash were stolen from inside the vehicles and garages. Through thorough and exhaustive investigation, Det. Van Ness was able to link Staton to four (4) different burglaries and one (1) attempted burglary. Staton was also determined to have been using the NJ Transit train system to get to and from West Windsor. After concluding his investigation, on January 30, 2020, Det. Van Ness charged Staton with four (4) counts of Burglary, four (4) counts of Theft, and one (1) count of Attempted Burglary. Staton has future dates pending at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS: On January 27th, Ptl. Mahon was detailed to the Burlington store for reports of shoplifting that occurred on January 25th. Investigation revealed the following: Two Black females entered the store together. They filled a laundry basket (valued at $40) with $300 worth of baby clothes. Suspect #1 then took the laundry basket full of clothes and exited the store setting off the inventory control alarm system. At this same time, Suspect #2 headed to the shoe section of the store where she stuffed a mesh bag full of sneakers, carried the bag full of sneakers to the handbag section, put the bag down, and left the store. About 20 minutes later, Suspect #2 re-entered the store, walked back to the handbag section where she selected twelve (12) handbags (valued at $1,400), picked up the bag full of sneakers (valued at $300), and exited the store setting off the inventory alarm system.
Det. J. Jones followed up these two shoplifting cases, and with the assistance of Det. A. Lee from the Lawrence Twp. PDt, was able to identify Suspect #2 as Sasha Howard. Howard was in custody at the Mercer County Correction Center. Det. J. Jones charged Howard with two (2) counts of Shoplifting and she has future dates pending at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS: Ptl. Hojnacki was detailed to the Target store for a shoplifter who was being detained by Assets Protection. Investigation revealed that Gladys Quezada was observed removing a universal remote control from its packaging and concealing it into her purse. She was next observed concealing make up products in her purse. Quezada then proceeded to the self-checkout where she failed to scan several items and instead put them directly into her purse. The value of the shoplifted merchandise was $356.40. Quezada was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS: Ptl. LaForge initiated a stop on a silver Ford Mustang for failing to stop at a red light and for having a brake light out. During the stop, Joey B. Thomas Jr. was determined to have a suspended license and a warrant for his arrest from Trenton. Based upon Ptl. LaForge’s observations, it was apparent that Thomas Jr. was impaired, but he refused to submit to any roadside testing. When he was arrested for DWI, he became irate and uncooperative. This behavior continued throughout processing at WWPD Headquarters, and included threats and yelling at officers. After processing, Thomas Jr. was released pending future Court dates in West Windsor and Trenton.

Kivet and his drug detecting K9 Quori, the front seat passenger, Leon Redding, was found to be in possession of a small zip lock bag containing cocaine. Redding was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS: Patrol units were detailed to Target for a shoplifter who had removed a security device from a Vizio 4K Smart TV. Det. J. Jones was in the area and also responded to the store to assist. Investigation revealed that after removing the security device from the TV, the suspect put the TV back on the shelf behind another TV which still had a security device on it. The suspect then paid for a case of water, but did not pay for an additional case of water located at the bottom of the cart, nor did he pay for any of the items he had concealed in a Target shopping bag and on his person. The suspect would later go back to retrieve the TV that he had earlier removed the security device from and placed it into his shopping cart. He then walked around the store pushing the cart with the TV in it before taking it out of the cart and leaving it behind. When he walked past all points of sale to leave the store with the other shoplifted items in his possession, he was detained by Det. J. Jones. He provided a Driver License as identification, but it was not a match for him. After being challenged about presenting a false ID, the suspect ran to exit out through the “entrance” but the automatic doors did not open, and he ran into the closed doors. He then ran out through the exit doors being pursued by Det. Jones. The foot pursuit continued across the parking lot, to the other side of the shopping center where the suspect ran into the Five Below store. Sgt. McMahon went into the store with Det. Jones, located the suspect, and he was taken into custody. The suspect was identified as Marcus Adderly, he was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS: While on patrol, Ptl. Crawford observed a blue Hyundai sedan being driven erratically on Alexander Rd. The vehicle was being driven into and out of closed office/business complexes, went through a red light, was speeding, and was also going back and forth in between lanes. Ptl. Crawford activated his emergency lights to stop the vehicle. After initially slowing down, the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed going through two red traffic lights. As the vehicle approached the ramp to U.S. Route 1 north, it slammed on its brakes before going onto the ramp. While on U.S. Route 1 north the vehicle again sped up to a high rate of speed. Due to the danger posed to the public by the fleeing vehicle, the pursuit was terminated.
