Flash Flood Watch until 07:00PM Thursday

...HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY... .Another cold front is expected to move through the area bringing moderate to heavy rainfall beginning late tonight. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur as the main front moves through the area Thursday morning. With ground already saturated and streams and rivers still high from heavy rainfall over the past week, flash flooding may develop as rainfall moves through. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast Georgia and western North Carolina, including the following areas, in northeast Georgia, Habersham and Rabun. In western North Carolina, Graham, Haywood, Macon, Northern Jackson, Southern Jackson, Swain, and Transylvania.

* from this evening through Thursday evening

* Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible. Heavy rainfall over the past week has left ground saturated and stream and river levels well above normal. Flash flooding could develop as heavy rainfall moves through the area, especially Thursday morning.

* Rapid rises above bankfull on streams and creeks may occur, along with the threat of flooded roadways. Flooding is also likely to re-develop on main stem rivers in and close to the watch area.

* AFFECTED AREAS: TRANSYLVANIA ... NORTHERN JACKSON ... HABERSHAM ... HAYWOOD ... GRAHAM ... MACON ... SOUTHERN JACKSON ... SWAIN ... RABUN
