Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory until 12:00AM Thursday

...Wintry Mess Wednesday... .A winter weather storm will spread across eastern Kansas and Missouri Wednesday morning, lingering through late Wednesday night. This storm will start with snow Wednesday morning, but surface temperatures will likely warm up just enough to convert the precipitation type to rain by the late morning to early afternoon hours, with a mix of rain and snow through the afternoon. However, temperatures will crash back down Wednesday evening as a strong cold front catchs up to the broad area of precipitation still occurring across the region. This will result in sufficent snowfall Wednesday night to warrent keeping the advisory going through midnight as the whole system moves east. Snowfall totals are low confidence owing to the above freezing temperatures expected during the day Wednesday, but expect enough mixed wintry precipitation to warrant going with a widespread winter advisory.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas and central, north central and west central Missouri.

* WHEN...From 9 AM Wednesday to midnight CST Wednesday night.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

* AFFECTED AREAS: LAFAYETTE ... JACKSON ... LEAVENWORTH ... MACON ... RANDOLPH ... CLAY ... HOWARD ... PLATTE ... JOHNSON ... CHARITON ... RAY ... WYANDOTTE ... CARROLL ... COOPER ... SALINE
