Traffic stop leads to Narcotics and Firearms charges (click on blue link for more details)

On Sunday February 9, 2020 Corporal Christian Wyatt initiated a traffic stop on a Honda passenger car traveling on West Tate Street in Marion. Upon speaking with the driver, Corporal Wyatt detected an odor of Marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle.

After all four occupants exited the vehicle, Corporal Wyatt deployed K-9 Marsoc for a narcotic sniff. During the search of the vehicle, a stolen firearm, 11.5 grams of Methamphetamine, and a small amount of Marijuana was located. The firearm was located in the seat which was occupied by Sarah Jean Shook (24 years of age, Marion). Shook was detained, and upon being searched by officers, made it known that she had another firearm in her coat pocket. As the search of Shook continued, an additional 81.8 grams of Methamphetamine was located in her coat pocket.

Shook was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Trafficking Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Shook was placed into the McDowell County Jail under a $100,000 Secured bond.
