The National Weather Service in Morristown has extended the

* Flood Warning for... Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina... Clay County in southwestern North Carolina... Polk County in east Tennessee...

* Until 930 AM EST.

* At 437 AM EST, emergency management reported widespread areal flooding across Northeast Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee due to the excessive rainfall that has occurred over the past 36 hours. Though the heavy rainfall has come to an end, runoff will continue to produce flooding overnight into the morning hours, including the flooding of several rivers, creeks, and streams.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Andrews, Murphy, Benton, Ducktown, Hayesville, Nantahala Lake, William L. Davenport Refuge, Tusquitee, Violet and Conasauga.

* AFFECTED AREAS: POLK, TN ... CLAY, NC ... CHEROKEE, NC

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
