* Flood Warning for... Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina... Clay County in southwestern North Carolina... Polk County in east Tennessee...
* Until 430 PM EST Thursday.
* At 728 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain will cause continued flooding. Over the last 6 hours, 2 to 3 inches of rain have fallen across the area with an additional 1 to 2 inches expected today.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Andrews, Murphy, Benton, Ducktown, Hayesville, Nantahala Lake, William L. Davenport Refuge, Tusquitee, Violet and Conasauga.
* AFFECTED AREAS: POLK, TN ... CLAY, NC ... CHEROKEE, NC
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
