Telephone scam

The Abington Police Department received information today about a scam being conducted by unknown person via cell phones. An Abington resident reported that he received two voice mail messages from an unknown party stating that if he did not return the phone call/voice mail message an arrest warrant would be issued for him. The Abington Resident reported that it appears the two calls were generated from the state of Texas.The voice on the messages appeared to be an automated pre-recorded voice.Many times these scams conducted over the phone are from overseas entities attempting by threats or coersion to obtain personal identifying information or credit card information. If you do received a simliar type of phone call or voice mail message please disregard and contact the police.
