Police Blotter January 14th-19th

January 14th, 2020:

Assault – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky);
Officers responded to a Lucky's where an employee was assaulted by a suspect who was stealing. The suspect picked up several canned food items and hit the employee in the head several times, causing several cuts. Store employees held the suspect down until officers arrived and arrested him. The suspect was found to be on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for today’s incident, and he was placed on a parole hold. The suspect was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Tampering – 1400 block of Elm Street;
An officer went to a report of someone breaking a window of the victim’s vehicle and entering the vehicle; however, nothing was stolen.

Petty Theft – 10636 San Pablo Avenue (24 Hour Fitness);
An officer went to a report of someone stealing items from an unlocked locker in the women’s locker room earlier in the day.

Residential Burglary – 6700 block of Cutting Blvd;
Officers were dispatched to a house for a burglar alarm activation. When the officers arrived, they found the home had been burglarized.

Strong Arm Robbery – 400 block of Colusa Ave:
At 8:36 pm, an officer reports the victim was approached by two unknown suspects who demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone. The suspects punched the victim several times before running off with his property.

Vehicle Tampering – 3200 block of Carlson Blvd:
At 9:09 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through the interior, but no loss was reported.

Auto Burglary – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:22 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect approached the victim’s vehicle while the victim was seated inside. The suspect broke the window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a purse before running off.

Vehicle Tampering – 600 block of Seaview Dr:
At 10:10 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through the interior, but no loss was reported.

Vehicle Tampering – 3200 block of Carlson Blvd:
At 10:16 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through the interior, but no loss was reported.

January 15th, 2020:

Warrant – Alva Avenue at Tassajara Avenue;
An officer contacted a subject who was sleeping in his vehicle and discovered he had a warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen license plate – 2300 block of Mono Avenue;
An officer went to a report that someone had stolen one of the license plates from the victim’s vehicle sometime during the last two weeks.

January 16th, 2020:

Vandalism – 6500 block of Portola Dr:
At 5:46 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect damaged the mailbox to an apartment complex.

Auto Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness):
At 6:35 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the back window to the victim’s vehicle and removed property.

DUI and Possession of Controlled Substance – S. 55th St / Bayview Ave:
At 12:21 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 43-year-old male who was found to be driving while impaired by alcohol. The man was also in possession of a controlled substance and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 17th:

Stolen Vehicle: 5500 block of MacDonald Ave:
At 9:22 am, an officer responded to the report of a stolen red 1999 Honda CRV. The vehicle was stolen sometime during the previous night by an unknown suspect.

Resisting Arrest and Warrant (x2): Fairmount Ave. / Kearney St.
At 5:40 pm, officers responded to the report of a woman lying on the ground, possibly suffering from a medical issue. Officers located a 44-year-old woman who was found to have just been sleeping; however, she had two warrants for her arrest. As officers took her into custody, she bit an officer and then tried to spit on them. She was booked and transported to the county jail.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 8:56 pm, officers responded to a report of battery and the brandishing of a weapon. Officers arrived and contacted the victim who stated a male entered his home and began to pistol-whip him. The victim was able to wrestle away the firearm but was being choked by the suspect, so he returned it. The suspect then left the scene. The victim suffered multiple injuries and was evaluated by medical personnel but chose to drive himself to the hospital. Several days after the incident, ECPD detectives arrested the suspect who was a friend of one of the residents. The suspect is currently in custody.

Domestic Violence – 6200 block of Cypress Ave:
At 1:09 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 38-year-old male who, during a verbal argument with his girlfriend, struck her in the face, causing a bloody lip. The male was taken into custody, booked at the ECPD, and then taken to the county jail.

January 18th:

Residential Burglary: 2200 block of Humboldt Ave:
At 10:58 am, officers responded to the report of an alarm and discovered the front door had been kicked in. An unknown suspect entered the residence and left quickly.

Grand Theft – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 2:19 pm, an officer responded to the report of three suspects stealing facial cream and beef jerky products. They walked in and loaded several bags full of products and then fled on foot. The total loss was over $1000.00.

Vehicle Tampering – 10100 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 11:31 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle but did not remove any property.

Vehicle Tampering – 10500 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 12:36 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the front and rear passenger side windows to the victim’s vehicle but did not remove any property.

Auto Burglary – 10500 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1:44 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the rear windshield to the victim’s vehicle and removed a backpack.

DUI – Carlson Blvd/San Diego St:
At 1:22 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 31-year-old male, for DUI. The male was booked then released with a citation to his girlfriend.

January 19th:

Grand Theft – 24 Hour Fitness
At 1:30 pm, an officer responded to the report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim had a computer and other items valued at over $1000.00 stolen.
