Advisory

The Janesville Police Department was presented with a "Friend of Education" award

The Janesville Police Department was presented with a "Friend of Education" Award from the Board of Education for the School District of Janesville, WI.

At last night's Board of Education meeting for the School District Janesville, we heard a presentation about the PACT -- Promoting Attendance For Children & Teens, a pilot project conducted at Jackson Elementary School in partnership with School Resource Officer Denise Stutika and others in the Janesville Police Department to help address chronic absenteeism/truancy by students.

The success of this pilot has been exciting and plans have begun to expand the effort. In recognition of the partnership between the Janesville Police Department and the School Districts of Janesville, Chief of Police David Moore and the Janesville Police Department were presented with a "Friend of Education" Award for the 2019-2020 school year. Superintendent Steve Pophal stated he feels blessed to have the Janesville Police Department as a community partner.

Hand in hand, through every level, the goal is to keep the kids and staff safe inside and outside our schools; day in and day out, year around. We realize that education and policing can do good and great things when working in partnership. We look forward to many years working with the Janesville Schools and developing new and energetic ideas to meet our goal.

Thank you to the Janesville School District, and the entire Janesville Community.
