Police Blotter for January 6th-13th
January 6th, 2020:
Grand Theft – 700 block of Ashbury St:
At 12:20 pm, an officer responded to the report of a theft of a catalytic converter from a Toyota Prius. The theft occurred between January 2nd and 3rd.
Robbery – 7000 Block of Cutting Blvd:
At 7:49 pm, officers responded to a reported home invasion robbery which had just occurred. Three unknown males entered the victim’s home and demanded money. The three males fled the area on foot. No injuries were reported.
January 7th, 2020:
Grand Theft – 1700 Walnut Ave.:
At 4:25 pm, an officer responded to the theft of a catalytic converter. An unknown suspect stole the victim’s catalytic converter from their Toyota Prius between January 4th and 5th.
Residential Burglary – 500 Block of Liberty St:
At 7:05 pm, an officer responded to a reported residential burglary. The victim had been away from home for approximately two weeks. Upon return, he located a broken front window and the front door unsecured.
Auto Burglary – 6050 EC Plaza (Barnes & Noble):
At 9:03 pm, an officer reports the victim’s SUV was broken into while parked in front of Barnes & Noble. The loss was a backpack containing electronics and identification.
January 8th, 2020:
Methamphetamine Use: Starbucks – 11861 San Pablo Ave:
At 10:48 am, an officer responded to the report of a subject smoking narcotics on the patio. The officer observed a 23-year-old transient male smoking methamphetamine. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Child Endangerment / Cont. Subs. Possession: Potrero Ave./Eastshore Blvd.
At 1:11 pm, officers responded to the report of a subject hitting a woman while holding a child. Officers located a 22-year-old male who was holding his two-year-old son at Del Norte BART. When contacted, the subject abandoned the child in the bus zone and fled on foot due to him having a small amount of meth. The man was taken in custody a short distance away by a responding officer. The female said she was not assaulted and took custody of the child. The male was booked and released with a citation.
Grand Theft – 1700 Block of Lexington Ave:
At 6:12 pm, an officer responded to a reported theft of a catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle. The theft occurred in the driveway sometime between January 5th and January 7th.
Residential Burglary – 1200 Block of Norvell St:
At 6:19 pm, an officer reports the victim’s home was broken into and ransacked sometime between 1:30 – 5:30 pm. The loss was electronics.
Vandalism – 11299 San Pablo Ave:
At 9:59 pm, an officer reports the victim’s vehicle was struck by a metal object thrown by a homeless male who was last seen walking west on Potrero Ave.
January 9th, 2020:
Auto Burglary – 11821 San Pablo Ave (McDonald’s):
At 1:36 am, an officer reports the victim’s SUV was broken into while parked in the McDonald’s parking lot. The left rear window was shattered, and a black computer bag containing a laptop was stolen.
Cycling Under the Influence – 800 Block of Richmond St:
At 6:52 pm, officers responded to a reported hit-and-run collision involving a bicyclist. Upon arrival, it was determined a male was riding his bicycle south on Richmond St when he collided with a blue recycling bin. The male admitted to consuming two large alcoholic beverages before riding. The male was transported to the hospital for potential head injuries and released with a citation.
Shoplifting – 6000 EC Plaza (Bed Bath & Beyond):
At 8:53 pm, an officer reports three suspects entered the store with bags and walked to the linen section. The suspects filled their bags, along with another bag stolen from the store. All three suspects fled the store with approximately $270 in merchandise.
Theft from an Unlocked Vehicle – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 8:03 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole a backpack containing clothes and books. The property, valued at approximately $580, was recovered by store security about 50 feet away in a bush.
January 10th, 2020:
Vandalism; Stalking – 2700 Block of Arlington Blvd:
At 1:12 am, officers responded to the area for a report of vandalism at the residence. The victim stated a known male had smashed out windows to their home and fled in a vehicle. An officer located the vehicle, and the male was subsequently identified and arrested. The male was suspected in 5 previous vandalism cases at the same residence. The male was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
January 10th, 2020:
Burglary – 3200 block of Carlson Blvd:
At 11:26 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect cut the lock to a shed and removed miscellaneous tools. Some of the victim’s property was located in an empty lot several blocks away.
Burglary, Fraud – 10422 San Pablo Ave (Bank of America):
At 11:55 am, an officer reports a 27-year-old male entered the bank and attempted to cash a fraudulent check. The man was arrested and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Stolen Vehicle Recovery – San Pablo Ave / Stockton Ave:
At 2:27 pm, an officer located the victim’s vehicle, which had been reported stolen on 12-28-19. The victim met with the officer and took possession of the vehicle.
Shoplifting – 10794 San Pablo Ave (Marshall's):
At 4:19 pm, an officer reports the theft of merchandise which occurred last year in December. The theft occurred as part of a larger string of organized retail theft, and a suspect has been identified.
January 11th, 2020:
Residential Burglary – 7300 block of Ganges Ct:
At 9:54 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect cut the screen to the rear sliding glass door and a window at the residence, but no entry was made into the home.
Residential Burglary – 2500 block of Tamalpais Ave:
At 12:33 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect knocked on the front door of the residence and then entered the rear yard. Once in the backyard, the suspect shattered a bedroom window of the occupied home. The resident screamed, and the suspect ran off without any property.
Grand Theft – 784 Colusa Ave:
At 1:48 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s Toyota Prius sometime during the night.
Grand Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 2:47 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole an inventory scanner device from the store from the photo booth counter.
Residential Burglary – 6500 block of Alta Vista Dr:
At 3:10 pm, officer reports three suspects entered the residence by breaking a sliding glass door and removed property from inside the home.
Grand Theft – 7300 block of Gladys Ave:
At 3:33 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s Toyota Prius sometime during the night.
Grand Theft – 900 block of Richmond St:
At 4:01 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s Toyota Prius sometime during the night.
Attempted Theft – 2700 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 4:40 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the interior; however, nothing was taken.
January 12th, 2020:
Grand Theft – 300 Victoria St:
At 11:15 am, an officer reported the catalytic converter was stolen from the victim’s 2006 Toyota Prius some time overnight.
Residential Burglary – 7300 blk of Cutting Blvd:
At 3:30 pm, an officer responded to the report of three suspects in their teens, smashing a rear sliding glass door of the occupied residence and entered the family room. The resident was walking down the hall toward the kitchen and heard the glass break. She then came face to face with the suspects in her dining room. Upon seeing the resident, all three suspects fled through the broken door empty-handed and left in a black car.
Residential Burglary – 1600 blk Elm St:
At 5:05 pm, an officer responded to the report of a home being burglarized and ransacked. The victim returned home to find the house ransacked.
Residential Burglary – 5200 block of Victor Ave:
At 6:40 pm, an officer reports a group entered the victim’s residence via an unlocked kitchen window and ransacked the interior. The suspects left the residence with electronics.
Grand Theft – 700 block of Richmond Street:
At 8:58 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle sometime during the day.
Strong Arm Robbery – 10600 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:27 pm, as the victim was walking along San Pablo Avenue, a male jumped out from bushes and snatched the purse from the victim’s shoulder. The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground and punched her before fleeing.
Auto Burglary – 10300 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:52 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the rear passenger window to the victim’s vehicle, ransacked the interior, but nothing was removed from the vehicle.
Vehicle Tampering – 10300 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:52 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the front driver side window of the victim’s vehicle.
January 13th, 2020:
Vandalism – 1700 block of Liberty Street:
At 6:23 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the front passenger window to the victim’s vehicle.
Grand Theft – 1700 Walnut Ave:
At 6:18 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s Toyota Prius.
Grand Theft – 7000 block of Blake St:
At 6:21 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle.
Detective Update:
Detectives were able to identify three suspects who were responsible for the numerous burglaries that occurred over the weekend of the 11th. The suspects, all adult males, were arrested and are currently in custody.
