Armed and Dangerous Suspect wanted in connection with recent fatal hit & run collision

On January 20th at about 10:30 am, a University of California Police Officer saw a man inside a parked vehicle violently attacking a female passenger in the area of Sixth Street and University Avenue.  When the officer tried to intervene, the man drove away—with the woman screaming for help.  While fleeing from the area, the suspect drove onto a sidewalk—where he struck and killed a 58-year-old woman.

Since this incident, many community members have contacted the Berkeley Police Department with information about the incident and our investigators have actively followed-up on the information.  During the investigation, investigators learned the suspect responsible for the recent fatal collision is a 29-year-old man named Alexander McGee.

On January 24th, officers from the Berkeley Police Department searched two North Oakland locations for Alexander McGee but he was able to elude capture.

In addition to two pre-existing warrants for his arrest from Contra Costa County, Alexander McGee is wanted for vehicular manslaughter, hit and run causing death, felony domestic violence and violation of his probation.

Based on the severity of these crimes and his previous history, Alexander McGee is considered Armed and Dangerous.  Alexander McGee knows that he is wanted and has been known to flee or fight police.

If you see Alexander McGee, do not approach or contact him and immediately dial 911.
