SMPD Investigates Fatal Collision at US 101/Peninsula Ave. Related to Attempted Home Invasion. Active Investigation is Ongoing. 
San Mateo Police Department is currently investigating a fatal vehicle collision in San Mateo just off the US 101 offramp at Peninsula Avenue. SMPD believes this is one of two vehicles associated with an attempted home invasion of a residence in the 1600 block of Roberta Drive in San Mateo. SMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the collision, and Detectives are investigating the related crime. This is in active and evolving investigation, and an update will be provided later in the day.
At this time, the northbound Peninsula Ave. offramp is closed to thru traffic, as is soutbound Bayshore Blvd. from Peninsula.
