Advisory

Hoboken PATH Station closed 12:01 am Sat until 5 am Mon | Winter weather advisory | Pulaski Skyway weekend closure

Hoboken PATH station closure

According to the Port Authority of NY/NJ, starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, January 18, the Hoboken PATH station will be closed until 5 a.m. on Monday, January 20 in order to complete essential signal maintenance at the station and in the adjoining tunnels.

With the Hoboken station closure, the World Trade Center PATH station – which is scheduled to be closed on weekends through most of 2020, except for major holidays for Superstorm-Sandy related work – will remain open this weekend during the hours the Hoboken station is closed.

The Journal Square-33rd Street line will operate on its normal weekend schedule, but there will be no service in and out of Hoboken.

During the Hoboken service outage, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system will cross-honor affected PATH riders at the Hoboken, Newport and Exchange Place stations.

For more information on this weekend’s revised PATH travel schedule, please go to www.panynj.gov/StayOnTrack or download the RidePATH app.

Winter weather advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area from Saturday January 18 at 10:00 AM to Sunday January 19 at 1:00 AM. Precipitation is expected to begin as snow on Saturday afternoon with moderate snowfall up to 3" possible, then transition to rain on Saturday evening. The Department of Environmental Services is preparing plows and salt spreaders to de-ice roadways.

Property owners/occupants are reminded that they have six (6) hours after the completion of a storm to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property, along with adjoining wheelchair ramps or curb cuts. Residents are urged to assist elderly or disabled neighbors with clearing snow from their properties. It is illegal to shovel snow back onto streets or onto fire hydrants. The City performs proactive inspections and also relies on citizen complaints to help us identify those property owners that are not meeting sidewalk safety requirements. The vast majority of property owners comply with these regulations, but the City will issue fines to those who do not keep sidewalks clear.

To report an unplowed street, unshoveled sidewalk, or other problem, residents can submit an online complaint via https://www.hobokennj.gov/311 or via the Hoboken 311 mobile application.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the City’s Twitter (twitter.com/cityofhoboken) and Facebook (facebook.com/hoboken) or sign up to receive free email or text updates by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts. For emergencies, call the Hoboken Police Department at 201-420-2100.

Pulaski Skyway weekend closure

The New Jersey Department of Transportation advises that the Pulaski Skyway will have a weekend full closure between 11 p.m., Friday, January 17th and 5 a.m., Monday, January 20th, for pier jacking. During the closures all traffic will be detoured via US 1&9 Truck.
