...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING
TO NOON CST FRIDAY...
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
a trace and ice accumulations around a quarter of an inch. Winds
gusting as high as 35 mph on Friday.
* WHERE...Central, South Central and Southeast Kansas.
* WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to noon CST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Slick roads, parking lots, and sidewalks are
expected. Even a small amount of ice accumulation can create
hazardous conditions and could impact the Thursday evening and
Friday morning commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...In south central and southeast Kansas, a
trace of snow and sleet followed by mostly freezing rain. In
central Kansas, snow and sleet is expected to persist longer
before mixing with freezing rain and rain. Therefore, the main
concern at this time for southern areas within the advisory will
be greater ice accumulations. Further north in central Kansas,
lighter ice accumulations but potentially a heavier snow/sleet
accumulation will be the primary concerns.
