Warrant issued for Newark man wanted for three vehicle break-ins

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that Keith Tilghman, 34, of Newark, is being sought by police for three vehicle break-ins that occurred over the past three months.

On Monday, November 18, 2019 a victim reported that his vehicle was broken into while parked in the 200 block of Smith Street. Cash and credit cards were stolen from the vehicle.

On Friday, December 13, 2019, a woman reported that her vehicle was broken into while parked in the 100 block of Lindsley Avenue. Cash and two prescription bottles were removed from the victim’s vehicle.

A man reported that his vehicle was burglarized between January 1 and January 3, 2020 while parked at Vale Street and Kenmore Avenue. The victim’s wallet containing a credit card and other personal property were stolen in this incident.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Keith Tilghman as a suspect in each of these incidents and have secured warrants for his arrest on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit burglary.

While police are actively searching for Tilghman, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating him as part of these investigations.

Director Ambrose is urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Keith Tilghman to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
