LASD Detective Amber Leist 
On Sunday, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Detective Amber Leist, who was off-duty, saw an elderly woman fall down in a crosswalk as she tried to navigate a busy street. Detective Leist got out of her car and helped the woman to safety. Sadly, as Detective Leist returned to her car she was struck by a vehicle and later died.
