Corrections Officer Arrested for Aggravated Assault Stabbing

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports the arrest of Miesha Robinson, 34, of Newark, a corrections officer at Northern State Prison, in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to a residence in the area of Leslie Street near Chancellor Avenue on a call of a stabbing victim. A woman had been stabbed by another woman, who also threatened her life, following a quarrel. The victim arrived at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for treatment. She is reportedly in critical condition.

Robinson was arrested after EMS members walked into the 5th Precinct, at 480 Clinton Avenue, and advised police that a patient was attempting to leave the ambulance. She was immediately arrested as a suspect in the Leslie Street stabbing incident and faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful. Purpose and terroristic threats.

These charges are merely accusations. This suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
