Advisory

SEVERE WEATHER TONIGHT

We are expecting a line of thunderstorms late tonight with the potential for severe weather within that line. Damaging winds are the most likely type of severe storm, but tornadoes and hail are also possible. In general, the greatest threat for severe storms increases from south to north.

Please take some time this afternoon to make sure to secure anything around your property that may be blown around in the winds associated with this storm system.

Be sure to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts - you can sign up for city alerts by texting SIMONTON to 888-777 ~ if you have new neighbors, please share this information with them.

The city alerts system includes all national weather service alerts.

Please stay inside during the storm and stay safe!

**Remember in the case of a tornado, take shelter on the lowest floor, small center room (like a bathroom or closet), under a stairwell, or in an interior hallway with no windows. Crouch as low as possible to the floor, facing down; and cover your head with your hands.**

The City's Emergency Operations staff will be monitoring the situation and if necessary will assess conditions tomorrow morning in the daylight.
