On January 8, 2020, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Kern County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 21-800 block of Quail Springs Road in the Tehachapi area to check the welfare of a resident.
When deputies arrived, they located a deceased 55-year-old female with traumatic injuries.
Homicide detectives responded and assumed the investigation.
A vehicle and person of interest were identified early in the investigation and the information was shared with nearby agencies. At approximately 6:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol located the vehicle on Interstate 15, near Primm, close to the Nevada border.
Law enforcement agencies initiated an investigative traffic stop, at which time an officer involved shooting occurred. For further details, refer to the California Highway Patrol and/or San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Madison Adams of Tehachapi, the son of the victim.
