KCSO cites several in December ABC Decoy Operation
During the month of December 2019, detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office conducted an ABC Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation at six locations around Bakersfield resulting in three arrests for furnishing a minor with an alcoholic beverage. During the operation, a minor under the direct supervision of a peace officer stood outside of liquor or convenience stores and asked patrons to purchase them alcohol. The minor indicated in some way they were underage and could not legally purchase alcohol.
The Shoulder Tap Operation program is intended to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors. The operation was funded through a grant by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The following three people were cited and released during the operation.
Cory Williams, 30 years old of Bakersfield, for violation of BP 25658(a) furnishing alcoholic beverage to a minor
Gary Beltran, 56 years old of Bakersfield, for violation of BP 25658(a) furnishing alcoholic beverage to a minor
