Dear Sherman School Community,

On December 7th, the Town voted to approve the Board of Education’s request for funding to engage Tecton Architects to provide conceptual design services for the Sherman School campus, which may result in a building renovation or construction project.

The Board of Education would like to involve you in this very important process and decision. We have scheduled three public forums where you will be able to work with Tecton, provide input, make recommendations, express concerns, and ask questions. All public forums will take place in the Sherman School Multi-Purpose Room on the dates below:

● January 8, 2020 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
● February 25, 2020 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (child care provided)
● March 25, 2020 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

In between each of these public forums, Tecton will use the feedback received to make modifications to their conceptual designs. Because the plans will change based on the input received, we encourage you to attend as many forums as possible.

Once Tecton has finalized its conceptual design in March, the Board of Education will make a final recommendation to the Board of Selectmen regarding next steps. If these next steps include a recommendation to move forward with a building project, a referendum in May 2020 and an application for state funding in June 2020 may follow.

The Board of Education has been working closely with our 25-member Design and Innovation Committee to bring us to this point. We recognize the importance of each decision we make and genuinely desire your input as we move forward.
