December 23

Residential Burglary – 2200 block of Spyglass Lane:
At 5:58 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s home via sliding glass door. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the interior and took jewelry. The homeowner arrived as the house was being burglarized, and scared the suspects off. Officers arrived on scene and utilized a police K9 to make sure no suspects were still inside.

DUI – 5900 block of Cutting Boulevard:
At 1:36 am, an officer was flagged down regarding a male who was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. The male was unresponsive and did not wake up for officers. The male was removed from the car by medical personnel and transported to the hospital. Based on the male’s objective symptoms, it is believed he was under the influence.

Commercial Burglary – 11800 block of San Pablo Avenue:
At 3:33 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect pried open the door to a business causing the alarm to sound off. It is likely the alarm frightened the suspect as no entry was made into the store.

December 24

Robbery – 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:17 pm, an officer reports three subjects entered a business while one selected a box of cologne and attempted to remove the security tag. A store employee confronted the suspect who then got into the employee's face, pushed them, and fled the store with the stolen property.

Shoplifting – 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 10:06 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 24-year-old female after she entered the business and concealed $175 worth of ice cream. The female was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and later released with a citation.

December 25

DUI and Hit and Run – 11821 San Pablo Ave:
At 10:07 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 22-year-old male after he was involved in a collision and fled. The male was stopped by a Richmond Police Officer and was found to be under the influence. The male was taken into custody and then released to his father with a citation.

Vandalism – Moeser Lane and Ohlone Greenway:
At 9:58 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 44-year-old male after officers responded to a report of a male spray painting a pillar. When the officer arrived on scene, they witnessed the suspect doing the same. The male was taken into custody, booked then released with a citation.

December 26

Assault– BART Path and Blake St:
At 8:29 pm, an officer reports the victim was walking home from the park when she was approached by a male who asked for a cigarette. The mal pulled out a squirt gun and sprayed the victim in the face with an unknown substance, which caused a burning sensation.

Shoplifting and Battery – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:25 pm, an officer reports a store employee confronted two males who were attempting to steal property from the business. The store employee recovered some of the property but lost his ring during the incident. The employee confronted the males at the BART station, where they returned the ring and then assaulted him. The males fled the area before police arrived.

Auto Burglary – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:48 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the window to the victim’s vehicle and removed property.

Auto Burglary – Vandalism:
At 10:31 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered a window to the victim’s vehicle but did not remove any property.

Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 10:59 pm, an officer reports the citizen’s arrest of a 53-year-old male after the male was stopped with unpaid merchandise. The male was identified and given a citation.

December 27

Residential Burglary – 1600 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 11:07 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the residence sometime over the past few months and stole several items.

Grand Theft – 700 block of Ashbury Ave:
At 11:29 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s vehicle sometime during the evening.

Theft from Auto – 6500 Alta Vista Dr:
At 2:58 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed several items from the interior.

Grand Theft – 800 block of Norvell Street:
An officer went to the report where an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from a vehicle.

Warrant – San Pablo Avenue at Madison Avenue:
An officer contacted an individual in the area and discovered he had an arrest warrant issued for him by the San Jose Police Department for vandalism. The subject was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and released with a citation.

December 28

Vehicle Tampering – 5500 block of Zara Ave:
At 7:09 am, an officer reports the victim went outside to find an unknown suspect attempting to steal the catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s vehicle. The suspect fled from underneath the victim’s car and drove off in a green SUV.

Warrant – San Pablo Avenue at San Diego Street:
An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and discovered the driver had a warrant for her arrest issued by the Vallejo Police Department for Hit and Run. She was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue at Macdonald Avenue:
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and discovered the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then released with a citation to a sober friend.

December 29

Lewd Activity – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 10:55 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the business the previous day and engaged in lewd behavior by himself in the back corner of the store.

Warrant Arrest – WB I -80 / Potrero Ave:
At 4:28 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the 29-year-old driver who had a warrant for her arrest. The woman was arrested and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

December 30

Warrant Arrest – Carquinez Ave at Hagen Blvd.

At 11:19 am, an officer arrested a 19-year-old female for a Solano County warrant. The female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and was released with a citation.

Strong-Arm Robbery – BART path at Wall Ave.

At 1:26 pm, the victim was walking on the BART path when the suspect approached her and asked to use her cell phone. The victim let the suspect use her cell phone, and the suspect attempted to flee with the phone. The victim grabbed the suspect's bicycle, and they fell to the ground. As the victim retrieved her cell phone off the ground, the suspect punched her in the face several times. The suspect fled on a bike, northbound on the BART path, and the victim fled to the Del Norte BART station.

Residential Burglary – 6500 block of Lagunitas Ave.

Unknown suspects kicked open the rear door to the vacant residence and illegally inhabited the dwelling from 12-19-19 to 12-30-19. Several items stolen from a home located in the 7300 block of Pebble Beach were found inside.

Residential Burglary – 7300 block of Pebble Beach Dr.

At 4:01 pm, the homeowner reports that on December 21st, 2019, he left his garage door open from 8:15 pm to 8:45 pm, and during that time, an unknown suspect took multiple items from his unlocked vehicle and garage.

Attempted Auto Burglary – 500 block of Liberty St.

An unknown suspect shattered the rear passenger window to the victim's Nissan SUV and rummaged through the vehicle. No loss reported. The theft occurred between 9:00 pm last night to 9:43 am today.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue at Knott Avenue:

An officer responded to the report of a vehicle collision, and when he arrived, he discovered the driver of the involved vehicle was intoxicated. The driver was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and released on a citation to a sober family member.

December 31

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 9:24 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested a male passenger for having drug paraphernalia. The male was taken into custody, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released on a citation.

January 01

Driving Under the Influence – 8000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1:25 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested a male for DUI. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department where he was booked and then released with a citation to a sober driver.

Driving Under the Influence – Central Ave / Yosemite Ave:
At 2:57 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the male driver for DUI. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department where he was booked and then released with a citation to a sober driver.

Residential Burglary – 6700 Block of Glen Mawr Ave:
At 6:28 pm, an officer reports three suspects entered the victim's residence earlier in the afternoon and took property when nobody was home. The suspects gained access through an unlocked bedroom window.

Trespassing; Resisting Arrest with Violence; Battery on a Peace Officer; Tampering with or Destroying Utilities – 5200 Block of Victor Ave:
At 8:21 pm, officers responded to a report of a male who had been restrained from entering the victim’s residential property and had now returned for the third time in two days. The male was found on the property and had been tampering with the utilities. The male was ultimately placed under arrest after he resisted arrest with violence. The male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility, where he was booked in on charges related to the trespassing, tampering with utilities, and fighting with the officers.

January 02

Tampering with a Vehicle – 10042 San Pablo Ave (Noodle Fresh):
At 1:19 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect forced open the two rear wing windows to the victim’s vehicle and pulled down the back seat to access the trunk. No loss was reported. The crime occurred between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

Vandalism – 2700 Block of Arlington Blvd:
At 11:36 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect spray-painted obscenities on the victim’s garage doors and vandalized the victim’s vehicle.

Residential Burglary – 500 Block of Richmond St:
At 2:55 am, an officer reports an unknown male suspect used a potted plant to break a front window and gain access to the residence. The suspect fled the house after being confronted by the victim.

Receiving Stolen Property; Driving on a Suspended License – Macdonald Ave / Carlston St:
At 9:24 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The male driver was found to have a suspended driver license and stolen license plates on his vehicle. The male was released in the field with a citation, and the vehicle was impounded.

Theft from an Unlocked Vehicle; Receiving Stolen Property – Lincoln Ave / Lexington Ave:
At 1:14 am, officers responded to a report of a suspicious male who was seen by a witness inside of a parked vehicle. Officers arrived in the area and located a male who matched the description. The male was positively identified by the witness and subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property and theft from the unlocked vehicle. The male was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department, booked and then released with a citation.

January 03

Vandalism – 1900 Key Blvd:
At 1:23 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle sometime over the past two days.

Auto Burglary – 11224 San Pablo Avenue:
An officer went to a call of a vehicle that had been broken into. An unknown suspect shattered a window and stole property from the vehicle.

Auto Burglary – 9999 San Pablo Avenue:
An officer went to a call of a vehicle that had been broken into. An unknown suspect shattered a window and stole property from the vehicle.

Auto Burglary – 11900 San Pablo Avenue:
An officer went to a call of a vehicle that had been broken into. An unknown suspect shattered a window and stole property from the vehicle.

Possession of a controlled substance – Cutting Blvd at Key Blvd:
An officer was flagged down about a subject sitting at the bus stop using narcotics. The subject was contacted, and he lied about his identity to the officers. A search of the subject was conducted, and narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located. The subject was arrested for the possession of these items, and then he gave his real name. He was found to be on probation in Contra Costa County for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was booked at the ECPD and then issued a citation.

Vandalism – 2700 block of Arlington Blvd:
An officer went to a call of vandalism. The officer learned that while the people who lived in the home were sleeping, someone threw a rock through the living room window.

January 04

Petty Theft – 6600 block of Central Ave:
At 1:25 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole a city issued recycling bin, which he had placed on the curb for pickup.

Grand Theft – 3400 block of Yosemite Ave:
At 2:04 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s vehicle over a two week period.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Potrero Avenue at S. 56th Street:
An officer stopped a bicyclist for a vehicle code violation and learned the subject was on probation. A probation search was conducted, and he was found to have Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Xanex in his pockets. The man was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and issued a citation.

Public Intoxication – Schmidt Lane at Bart Path:
Officers went to a call of a disturbance between several people at this location. When they arrived, they found one of the subjects was intoxicated and started to walk away before the investigation was completed. The subject was placed under arrest for public intoxication, booked at the ECPD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery – 7022 Stockton Avenue (7-Eleven):
Officers went to a call of a robbery that just occurred at 7-Eleven. Officers learned a subject had come into the store, threatened the clerk, and demanded money. After the robbery, the suspect ran out the door, got into a vehicle, and drove away.

January 05

Grand Theft – 1400 block of Elm St:
At 9:30 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from underneath the victim’s vehicle sometime during the evening prior.

Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:55 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect selected several bottles of alcohol from the display and exited the store without paying. When followed by store staff, the suspect discarded most of the stolen property, which was recovered.

Auto Burglary – Knott Ave / Hagen Blvd:
At 11:28 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the rear window to the victim’s vehicle and removed a suitcase.
