On Friday, January 3, 2020 at 2:10 p.m., Samuel Oliva, 21 years old from McFarland, was arrested for an active arrest warrant in the city of McFarland related to the shooting that occurred on Saturday, December 14, 2019 in the 700 block of Griffith Avenue. Oliva was booked into the Kern County Jail for attempted murder, robbery, and conspiracy.

PREVIOUS RELEASE:
On Saturday, December 14, 2019, at approximately 10:20 p.m., deputies from the Wasco Substation responded to a victim of a shooting in the 700 block of Griffith Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies located a 33-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen area. The male victim was transported to Kern Medical by helicopter with major injuries. The victim is currently in stable condition. During the investigation, deputies determined 27-year-old Juan Casillas of Wasco and 35-year-old Maria Ramirez of McFarland were involved with the assault.
On Monday, December 16, 2019, at 6:00 p.m., deputies located Casillas in the city of Wasco during a traffic stop. Casillas was taken into custody without resistance or delay. Later that night at 10:30 p.m., deputies located Ramirez in the city of McFarland. Ramirez was taken into custody without resistance or delay.
Both Casillas and Ramirez were booked into the Kern County Jail for Attempted Murder, Robbery, and Conspiracy.
