Homicide Investigation, 600 Block of W. Racine

On 01-05-20 at approximately 5:00 a.m. the Janesville Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 Block of W. Racine St. Upon arrival officers located a 40 year old male in the street that had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Mercy Hospital where he died as a result of his injury. We are not releasing the victim’s name until the family can be notified by the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Through our investigation we learned that several people, including the victim and suspect had been attending a party at a house in the 600 block of W. Racine St. The victim and the suspect were believed to have been involved in some type of argument, which ended with the suspect shooting the victim.

We are actively seeking Corvasie Weaver, 24 years old of Joliet, Illinois for this crime. Weaver was armed at the time of the shooting. Should members of the public see Weaver they should contact local law enforcement officials, and not approach him.
