Residential Burglary Suspect Arrested

Yesterday morning (12/30/19) around 7:30am, Fairfield Police Dispatch received a call about a potential burglary that had occurred. A resident called in stating his alarm system was activated and he was able to see someone in his house through his surveillance system. Dispatch immediately routed officers to the residence in the 2000 block of Cormorant Drive. Officers arrived at the home within two minutes and checked the residence, but the burglar had already left. Officers were able to obtain pictures and video of the suspect, and our initial intent would have been to produce the images to officers and the public in an effort to identify the suspect.

We ended up not needing to publish the pictures. A couple hours later around 11:00am, Officer Reed was patrolling in the area of the 2700 block of N Texas Street. Officer Reed was the initial officer who took the burglary report and had the images of the suspect. Based upon some very distinctive clothing…and the images he had, Officer Reed came across an individual and was able to determine it was the suspect. Marcos Olague, a 38-year-old Fairfield resident was arrested and booked into the county jail on charges of residential burglary, possession of burglary tools and vandalism.

It is up to each person to decide where they stand on burglar alarms and video surveillance systems, but in this case, it definitely paid off. Thanks to the systems in place and a quick call from the homeowner, we were able to get valuable identifying information on who the suspect may be. That combined with proactive police work resulted in getting this burglar off the streets.

The Fairfield Police Department would like to wish everyone a happy, but safe and responsible New Year!
