Phone Scams Targeting Fairfield
This is an important message from the Fairfield Police Department. Fairfield is currently being targeted by phone scam con artists who are requesting that citizens wire money to them under the guises that there is an emergency that requires this money. In one case, they claimed that a relative was in trouble with the police in another state and needed money. In another case the victim was told there was a warrant for their arrest. These con artists are using the names of actual Fairfield police officers in order to make their scam appear legitimate. The Fairfield Police Department is advising all citizens not to wire any money or purchase any gift cards at the request of anyone who may call them without first checking with their local police department.
