Incident Summary:
On the above date and time, the Novato Police Department, called Petaluma PD and requested we check for a wanted suspect at a business in Petaluma. Suspect Globe was wanted for a Felony Domestic Violence incident that occurred earlier in the morning in Novato. Petaluma PD officers went to Mike’s Barber Shop in the 700 block of Western Avenue to attempt to locate the suspect. Petaluma PD officers received further information that the suspect was inside the business. PPD officers also received information that Suspect Globe may have firearms in his vehicle, which was parked in front of the business. At approximately 10:05 AM, officers attempted to take the suspect into custody as he exited the business, but the suspect saw the officers and went back inside. Currently, there were no other patrons or employees inside the business. Suspect Globe began to barricade the front door with furniture from the business. PPD trained negotiators were able to contact Suspect Globe. Suspect Globe was despondent, appeared to be drinking alcohol and was threatening to take prescription pills. PPD officers set up a perimeter around the business. Traffic controls were also set up around the vicinity and a shelter in place was initiated to surrounding businesses and residents. Eventually some residents were evacuated that were close to the business. Petaluma FD staged in the area in case medical assistance was needed. At approx., 10:34 AM, the department’s Crisis Response Unit was called out.
During the next two hours, PPD negotiators attempted to get Suspect Globe to surrender. Suspect Globe would occasionally open the front door or look outside the front window. At approx., 12:40 PM, when the suspect opened the front door a K-9 and a less lethal impact projectile was deployed on Suspect Globe. Neither were immediately effective. At 12:50 PM, the department’s SWAT Team made entry and took the suspect into custody without incident. Suspect Globe was transported to a local hospital for a bruise to his upper shoulder from the less lethal projectile and to check for any other medical needs due to his alcohol or medication intoxication.
Once the suspect is released from the hospital, he will be arrested for Felony Domestic Violence and new charges from this incident. The case is still under investigation.
