INCIDENT: Armed Robbery

LOCATION: Holiday Inn Express, 25222 Redlands Blvd., Loma Linda

SUSPECT: Donald Machuca, 41 years old, resident of Azusa

VICTIM: Holiday Inn Express

SUMMARY:
On Saturday, December 7, 2019, at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Holiday Inn Express. The suspect was armed with a firearm and demanded two employees give him the money from the register and safe. The employees complied, and the suspect left with the cash. During the investigation deputies discovered the suspect committed two additional robberies at the Motel 6 in the cities of San Bernardino and Redlands. Investigators shared surveillance images and investigative information which led to the identification of the suspect, Donald Machuca, a 41-year old, black male from Azusa, CA. Machuca is on parole and was connected to numerous armed robberies in the cities of Ontario, Chino Hills, Chino, Montclair, Pomona, and Moreno Valley, which initiated a multi-law enforcement investigation.

On Thursday, December 12, 2019, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Central Station obtained an arrest warrant for Machuca for Armed Robbery. Officers from the Ontario Police Department, with the assistance of the California State Parole, arrested Machuca in the city of Azusa. Machuca was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC 211 – Robbery and a Parole Violation.
