Police seek the public's help in locating Newark man wanted for burglary

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose requests the public’s help in locating Jason Artis, 18, who is being sought on a charge of burglary in an incident that occurred on Monday, December 9, 2019.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a burglary call in the area of 18th and Stuyvesant avenues. A man kicked in the door of a residence, entered and damaged a TV screen before fleeing.

Detectives investigating this incident have identified Jason Artis as a suspect and have obtained a warrant for his arrest. Police seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating Artis as part of this investigation.

Director Ambrose is urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jason Artis to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
