Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau will partner with Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center to bring a Spark of Love to children that will have to spend the holidays in the hospital.  LASD TSB Acting Captain Chris Mouat, Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center Public Affairs Director Jenna Watkinson-Castillo, LASD TSB deputies and Professional Staff, and Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center Staff, will be joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus to distribute toys and gifts, meet and greet, with the children hospitalized within the medical center’s pediatric units.  Santa will be arriving in a custom Sheriff’s sled (truck) filled with toys and gifts.  He will be accompanied by Mrs. Claus and his helpers from the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau.  A representative from the Los Angeles County Fire Department may attend, duties permitting.

This is the fifth year the Sheriff’s Department has partnered with Kaiser Permanente to brighten the day for the children.  The Transit Services Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department provides police services to Metro and has done so for over 29 years.  The Transit Services Bureau within the LA County Sheriff’s Department has historically had a great relationship with transit patrons.  With crime currently trending down on the Metro system and having one of the highest solve rates of crimes that do occur within the county of Los Angeles, Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau remains committed to Metro, it’s patrons, and employees, to remaining a large part of the transit landscape in Los Angeles.

This is the first year the Transit Services Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department will partner with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Spark of Love toy drive to distribute toy and gifts collected during their toy drives, such as their Stuff-A-Bus events.

(Due to HIPAA considerations, media entry into the Medical Center depends on family and patient agreement.  Media opportunities include Santa and LASD personnel arriving at the medical center, who will be greeted by Kaiser Personnel, will be from 10:00-10:30 AM)
