Construction is set to begin this week on Walnut St. from 3rd to 5th St. in City Market.

This project will convert Walnut St. to a two-way street through City Market and add a pedestrian plaza, seating area, and additional City Market signage. Construction is anticipated to wrap up next May. 

The goals of the project are to improve traffic flow through City Market, provide better access and visibility for businesses, and promote a pedestrian friendly environment. The road will remain a pedestrian-only thoroughfare on weekends to accommodate market-goers.

All businesses in the area will remain open during construction and there will be minimal impact to City Market parking during the process. Additionally, KC Streetcar operations will not be affected by construction.
