On November 29, 2019 at 2:04 PM, Escondido Police and Escondido Fire responded to a vehicle collision on Bear Valley Parkway, near the intersection of Encino Dr. in Escondido.

The following information is based on witness statements as well evidence at the scene. A 20-year-old male was the sole occupant and driver of a white 2012 Ford Focus, traveling north on Bear Valley Parkway. A 40-year-old male was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer, south on Bear Valley Parkway. The Ford Explorer was also occupied by an adult female passenger and an infant child. The Ford Focus was seen traveling north in the left turn lane south of Encino Dr. just prior to colliding head-on with the Ford Explorer.

Both drivers and passengers were transported by the Escondido Fire Department to Palomar Medical Center. The driver of the Ford Focus suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition. The driver and passenger of the Ford Explorer suffered serious injuries but are in stable condition. The child was properly belted in a child safety seat and appears not to have sustained any injuries.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered to be a factor in this collision. The cause of this collision is under investigation by Officer Steven Braucht of the Escondido Police Department Traffic Division.
