Update - Arrest Made in Fatal Hit & Run

On November 23, 2019 at 11:52 AM, Escondido Police and Escondido Fire responded to a vehicle versus bicycle collision in the 1600 block of La Honda Drive, in Escondido. The bicyclist, Kevin Lentz, suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle had fled the scene.
Through the course of the investigation, Escondido Police Department Traffic Investigators developed information that led to the identification of 41-year-old Jamison Connor as the driver in this collision.
Today, at 9:20AM, Connor was taken into custody on a parole warrant and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on various weapons charges, drug charges and driving under the influence. These charges stemmed from his arrest and were not related to the Hit and Run collision.
This case remains under investigation and criminal charges for the Hit and Run collision are pending. Officer Adan Martinez of the Escondido Police Department Traffic Division is the lead investigator in this case and anyone who may have witnessed this collision is encouraged to contact Officer Martinez at (760) 839-4465.
