Crime Alert Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 11-19-19 at 4:03 a.m., Officer Herrera was dispatched to an apartment on the unit block of Hillside Boulevard on a report of a residential burglary. The officer met the victim outside of his apartment. The 22-year old victim said he was in his living room when he thought he heard his cat scratching at the door. The victim said he went into the kitchen and saw a male subject standing with a knife in his hand in front of his open refrigerator. The victim said he didn’t say anything and pushed the suspect out the open front door. Once the subject made it outside, he said, “But did I hurt you?” The victim told the subject not to return. The victim then texted his friend and told her what happened, and he and his roommate drove around the apartment complex to try to look for the suspect. The victim’s friend contacted him and said she found the subject in their building. The victim and his roommate walked over to the subject to try to detain him until the police arrived. The investigation revealed that the suspect had entered another apartment and took a jacket, wallet, keys and shoes. The suspect attempted to gain access to another apartment via a window but was unsuccessful. Officer Herrera took the suspect, a 29-year old Daly City resident, into police custody and placed him in an interview room. The officer left the room and saw on the surveillance camera, the suspect pulled his spandex shorts up to expose his genitals and proceeded to masturbate. The suspect was arrested for residential burglary, attempted burglary, petty theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and indecent exposure.

On Friday, 11-22-19 at 10:23 p.m., Officer Greene was dispatched to a call of a shoplift in progress at the Lucky’s store. The reporting party said the subject had argued with employees after taking three bottles of vodka. The reporting party followed the male to his vehicle and said a female was waiting for him inside the vehicle. The male said the female appeared to be heavily intoxicated. The reporting party gave a description of the suspect vehicle, and a Broadmoor Police Officer assisted in finding the vehicle at Mission Street and East Market Street. Officer Greene subsequently arrested the driver, a 45-year old San Francisco resident, for driving under the influence of alcohol. His passenger, a 41-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for public intoxication.

On Saturday, 11-23-19 at 12:01 a.m., a 24-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after rear ending a vehicle in the drive-through line of the In N Out restaurant on Gellert Boulevard. There were no injuries.

On Saturday, 11-23-19 at 10:55 p.m. a 45-year old South San Francisco resident was arrested for hit and run, driving a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest. This occurred following a traffic collision in the area of John Daly Boulevard and Cliffside Drive.

On Sunday, 11-24-19 at 9:42 p.m., Officer Graner was on patrol near the intersection of Sullivan Avenue and 92nd Street and saw a subject crouching behind a vehicle. Officer Graner subsequently arrested the suspect, a 45-year old Daly City resident, for public intoxication and booked him in jail. The Jail personnel found Xanax bars in the subject’s possession, and the subject was also charged with bringing a controlled substance into jail.

Robberies

There was one robbery during the past week.

On Friday, 11-22-19 at 11:30, Officer Serbin was dispatched to the front desk of the police station on a report of a robbery via gun that occurred over four hours earlier. The 39-year old victim said at 7:00 a.m., he entered his work truck that was parked in the wooded area of the 700 block of Templeton Avenue. The victim said as he was starting his truck, a white female in her early 20’s approached his vehicle and knocked on the window. The victim opened his door to ask what was going on, and he said the female asked if he could jump her car and pointed up the hill. The victim exited his vehicle to see where the female was indicating to when he was approached by a subject he described as a black male with a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and skeleton mask. The victim said that subject pressed a cold hard object to the rear of his head, beneath his ear. The victim said as he tried to look at the suspect, he could see the object was a gun. The male told the victim not to move or he would kill him. The victim said another male suspect with the same description as the first male approached him and removed his property from his pockets. The victim said all three suspects then ran up the hill and entered a black sedan, possibly a Honda. The victim said the suspects stole two cell phones and his wallet containing $250, an ATM card, a credit card and his driver's license. The victim was unharmed. This investigation is continuing.

This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there.
